Year Two is a busy and exciting place where learning is at the heart of everything we do! Every day we explore a new and exciting area of our bustling curriculum that is full of thought provoking topics. Some of our particular favourites are; History, where we learn about the gruesome reality of the plague and the super villain Guy Fawkes and his sneaky ways... off with his head! Science where we get to experiment, grow and deepen our understanding of the world around us and computing where we learn how to adapt to our rapidly changing world! In Year Two, we also love our DT theme weeks where we get to be designers and create wonderful products including a bridge, a wind powered moon buggy and even some yummy cous cous... mmmm!We also work very hard in Year Two to develop our maths skills, developing our number fluency in addition, subtraction, multiplication and division calculations. We begin to learn more complex methods to take on more challenging calculations and solve tough problems. Of course, we also love a maths game or two! In English, we work very hard to develop our skills in reading and exploring texts such as Jim and the Beanstalk and the Goldilocks Project, using them to stimulate exciting pieces of writing to showcase all of our developing skills as we become budding authors. We are vocabularly vultures in Year Two! We love picking up new and exciting vocabulary in every subject we do, and applying these in our creative writing. Certainly a high light of every week! We love to get outside and explore, whether this be looking at materials in Science or getting stuck in the mud (literally) as we make mud pies, search for minibeasts and explore the changes of the forest in our forest school area. We just love forest school! Have you guessed by now that Year Two is a great place to be? Learning and fun go hand in hand. But best of all, we always find time to develop our skills of being a great citizen and practise putting our love in action in our community along the way, incorparating our Christian values into everything that we do and taking every opportunity to let our lights shine brightly!
